Sustainability

We continually strive to reduce the environmental impact of Gut Pohnstorf. We do not rely on fossil fuels. Our electricity comes from 100% renewable sources through GP JOULE. Our charging infrastructure for electric cars also runs on green electricity.

The charging infrastructure and the purchase of our electric car were financially supported by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Our vehicles have only efficient electric motors – if they have motors at all. In Berlin we were able and happy to live without a car. In Pohnstorf we need one regularly. But we have discovered that e-bikes are fun and can often replace a car. We are happy to rent these to our guests.

We have a wood carburetor in our basement which converts local wood into heat. The powers both our heating and warm water in the manor. It is supported by a solar thermal system on the roof. In the bright summer months, our warm water comes almost completely from the solar thermal system.

Arriving with an electric care? We have four charging points with sufficient power (22 kW each) available. House guests only pay the electricity price of 40 Ct/kWh. Other guests please use your normal charging app, RFID card or the QR code on the column for credit card payments.

Rent a bike

For large and small bike tours we can rent you just the right bike. In the hills of Mecklenburg Switzerland many (even those under 40) are avid e-bike riders, especially if it is going to be a somewhat longer route, such as a trip through the forest to Salem at Kummerower See. But we also have comfortable touring bikes, racing bikes, mountain bikes, children’s bikes and a bike trailer for two kids (Chariot) which we are happy to rent you.
